February 26, 2020 (Halifax, Canada) – Much has happened for The Mill documentary and the Northern Pulp mill since Site Media filmmaker, David W. Craig and award-winning producer of Vertical Productions, Ann Bernier’s documentary had its original air date, including securing a second broadcast on CBC-TV – March 5, 2020 at 9pm AST.

Following its festival premiere at FIN Atlantic International Film Festival on September 16, 2019, The Mill enjoyed two screenings in Decorah, Iowa at the Oneota Film Festival this February. It was named the 2020 Best Feature Documentary OFF Walter W. Ordway Award Winner. Craig enjoyed a distance Q&A with an inquisitive audience curious to know what has happened to the mill as the environmental and industrial issues explored hold relevance the world over. The film also looks forward to being screened at the 17th Annual International Ocean Film Festival in San Francisco, California on March 13, 2020, where it has already won the Environment Award.

The filmmakers are also eagerly anticipating March 23, 2020, as they have been nominated in the TV category for Best Documentary Program by the Canadian Screen Awards against four other films – a high national accolade and achievement. On top of this, the film will be screened at Elements International Film Festival in Vancouver, Canada in early April.

The Mill will have its second broadcast on CBC Docs POV on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 9 p.m. AST. The Mill is also available to be streamed on CBC Gem and CBC’s YouTube channel.

The Mill was made possible with the assistance of the Government of Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia Film & Television Production Incentive Fund, Ontario Creates Film & Television Tax Credit, and The Canadian Film or Video Film Tax Credit. The Mill is a co-production made in collaboration with CBC and Canadian Media Fund. The Mill was inspired by Joan Baxter’s 2017 book, The Mill: Fifty Years of Pulp and Protest.
